Zebra DS3678-HP Industrial Wireless Scanner (DS3678-HP3U42A0SFW)

The Zebra DS3678 is an ultra-rugged cordless Bluetooth® 2D handheld scanner for warehouses, manufacturing plants, cold storage, yards and forklifts. It reads virtually every 1D and 2D barcode – including damaged, dirty, shrink-wrapped and poorly printed codes – survives multiple 3 m drops to concrete, 7,500 tumbles and full submersion in water (IP65 and IP68), and its 3,100 mAh PowerPrecision+ battery easily lasts a full shift. Class 1 Bluetooth gives you up to 100 m of freedom from the cradle, and the scanner is backed by a 3-year (36-month) Zebra warranty. This version, DS3678-HP3U42A0SFW, has the High Performance (HP) engine (a longer reach of up to about 2 m, plus OCR and document capture) and is the USB cradle kit without line cord: it is supplied with the STB3678 charging and communication cradle (Bluetooth base), a USB cable and a power supply – the AC line cord is ordered separately.

Key Features

• Virtually indestructible – withstands multiple 3 m (10 ft) drops to concrete and 7,500 tumbles from 1 m – the highest drop and tumble specifications in its class.
• IP65 and IP68 sealing – dust-tight, protected against water jets and fully submersible, so the scanner can be hosed down and used outdoors in rain and snow.
• Works from −20 °C to 50 °C – in cold stores, on outdoor docks and yards and in hot production halls.
• High Performance (HP) engine – reads 1D barcodes up to about 2 m away (40 mil Code 128) and adds OCR (OCR-A/B, MICR E13B), photo capture and Intelligent Document Capture.
• Cordless freedom up to 100 m – Class 1 Bluetooth 4.0 (BLE) with HID and SPP profiles and FIPS-compliant security; pair with the cradle by simply docking the scanner, or connect directly to Bluetooth PCs, tablets and mobile computers.
• PowerPrecision+ battery for long shifts – the 3,100 mAh Li-ion battery delivers more than 100,000 scans per full charge, reports its charge level and health, and is easy to replace for multi-shift operation.
• Charging contacts built for industry – corrosion-free Connect+ contacts are rated for 250,000 insertions, and the sealed FLB3678 forklift cradle is IP65-rated – the first in its class.
• PRZM intelligent imaging – reads damaged, dirty, poorly printed, low-contrast and shrink-wrapped barcodes at the first attempt, as well as Digimarc digital watermarks.
• Multi-Code Data Formatting and Label Parse+ – capture up to 20 barcodes with one trigger pull and automatically parse GS1 data such as expiry dates and lot numbers.
• Clear feedback in noisy environments – Direct Decode Indicator, bright wrap-around LEDs, a loud beeper and vibration confirm every good read.
• Flexible host connection – the cradle connects via USB, RS232 or keyboard wedge, and through the Zebra EA3600 adapter directly to Industrial Ethernet PLCs (EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus TCP, TCP/IP) – no third-party converters needed.
• Free management tools – configure with 123Scan, manage remotely with Scanner Management Service (SMS) and integrate using the Zebra Scanner SDK and Network Connect (Zebra DataCapture DNA).

Ideal Applications

• Warehouses and distribution centres – receiving, put-away, picking, cycle counting and shipping
• Manufacturing and automotive – work-in-process, parts tracking and quality control, including direct PLC connection on production lines
• Cold storage and food processing – freezer rooms, wash-down areas and loading docks
• Transport, ports and yards – outdoor scanning in rain, snow and direct sunlight
• Forklift and vehicle-mounted scanning – with the rugged holder and forklift power accessories

Technical Specifications

Not sure which version you need? First choose the engine – SR for everyday 1D/2D scanning, HP for a longer reach plus OCR, HD for very small, high-density codes and XR for everything from 5 cm to over 30 m. Then pick the package: the USB cradle kits include everything you need to start scanning (for European sockets add an EU line cord), the forklift kit brings the sealed vehicle cradle, the Industrial Ethernet kits connect directly to PLCs, and the scanner-only version is ideal for adding scanners to an existing DS3678 installation with cradles already in place.
