NewLand FM3281 Grouper Stationary Scanner (NLS-FM3281-NFC-20)
Regular price 232,71 € +VAT

The Newland FM3281 Grouper is a fixed-mount 2D scanner with a built-in NFC reader for building into self-service kiosks, access gates, turnstiles, ticket machines and checkout counters. Its 1280 × 1088 megapixel sensor and Newland's sixth-generation technology read all major 1D and 2D barcodes in an instant – from paper, labels and smartphone screens, including data-rich codes – and even OCR text such as the machine-readable zone (MRZ) of passports and ID cards. The integrated NFC reader handles contactless cards, tags and NFC phones (Mifare, DESFire, NTAG, FeliCa and more) at up to 30 mm, so one compact device covers both QR tickets and access cards. IR and light sensors start scanning automatically as soon as a code is presented, and IP67 sealing makes it a true outdoor scanner. Newland covers it with a 5-year (60-month) warranty. This version, NLS-FM3281-NFC-20, is the USB kit: it is supplied with a 2 m USB cable – ready to plug in and scan, no power supply needed.

📦 What's in the box – NLS-FM3281-NFC-20

  • ✅ Newland FM3281 Grouper fixed-mount scanner with NFC – black, 78.7 × 47.7 × 67.7 mm, IP67 – for built-in installation; short attached lead with RJ50 connector for the extension cable
  • ✅ 2 m USB extension cable – connects the scanner's lead to a USB port on your PC, kiosk computer or POS; the scanner is powered via USB
  • ❌ Power supply – not needed – the scanner is powered via USB
  • ❌ Mounting screws / brackets – not included – the scanner is fitted into your own kiosk, counter, gate or panel cut-out (threaded mounting holes on the sides of the housing)

💡 No stand needed – the FM3281 Grouper is built into a cut-out in your kiosk, counter, gate or panel (see the mechanical drawing in the Newland user guide). For outdoor use Newland recommends a rain shield, tilting the scan window slightly downward and sealing the cable connection; keep metal parts at least 5 cm away from the NFC area. The extension cable is replaceable, so you can switch interfaces later simply by changing the cable – e.g. the Newland USB cable (CBL042UA) or the Newland RS-232 cable (CBL037R) (RS-232 always needs a 5 V power supply).

Key Features

  • Barcodes, OCR and NFC in one – reads 1D and 2D barcodes, OCR text on passports, ID cards and travel permits, and contactless NFC cards and phones – one device for tickets, IDs and access cards.
  • Full NFC functionality – reads card number and card type, reads and writes sectors, supports file and key operations, contactless CPU cards (ISO 14443 Type A) and APDU commands; supports Mifare (One/S50/S70, Plus, Ultralight/C/EV1, DESFire), NTAG2x/NTAG42x, ICODE 2, Type B, FeliCa, ID cards and NFC phones at 0–30 mm.
  • Snappy on-screen reading, megapixel precision – the 1280 × 1088 sensor and Newland's sixth-generation technology capture data-rich codes from smartphone displays (mobile tickets, boarding passes, payment QR codes) and fine codes from 3 mil, with a reading range of up to 310 mm and a 58.2° × 66° field of view.
  • A true outdoor scanner – IP67 sealing protects against dust and temporary immersion, the optics minimise glare and reflections even in bright sunlight, and the sealed design prevents condensation when moving from cold to warm; operating range −20 °C to 60 °C.
  • IR and light sensors – the combination of an infrared sensor and a light sensor activates the scanner as soon as a code is presented – even in low ambient light at remote, unattended locations.
  • 24/7 status feedback – the scanner can report its operating status to the host, so solution providers can monitor remote installations and fix issues before customers notice them.
  • Easy integration – USB (HID keyboard, USB CDC virtual COM, HID-POS, IBM SurePOS) or RS-232 via the replaceable extension cable, 5–24 VDC input, EasySet configuration tool and a 5-year Newland warranty.

Ideal Applications

  • Access control, turnstiles and gates – QR tickets, staff ID cards and NFC access cards, indoors and outdoors
  • Self-service kiosks and ticket machines – mobile tickets, e-vouchers, booking codes and contactless cards
  • Airports, hotels and ID checks – passport and ID card OCR, boarding passes and hotel check-in
  • Public transport and parking – ticket validators, parking pay stations and transit cards
  • Retail POS and self-checkouts – loyalty cards (barcode or NFC), coupons and scan-to-pay codes
  • Parcel lockers, events and entertainment – pick-up codes, event entry and membership cards
