Light 3-inch receipt printer or rugged 4-inch label printer? Print width, media, battery, connectivity and durability of the ZQ320 Plus and ZQ521 side by side.
In this guide
Both are Zebra direct thermal mobile printers for receipts and labels, with Bluetooth, NFC tap-to-pair and Zebra's Link-OS. The ZQ320 Plus is the light, slim 3-inch model for receipts on the move. The ZQ521 is the rugged 4-inch model: it prints 104 mm wide, takes more media types, has a bigger battery and a display, and is built to survive more drops. Choose the ZQ320 Plus for receipts and small labels on a belt all day. Choose the ZQ521 for 4-inch labels, delivery and warehouse work, or Wi-Fi.

Figures from Zebra's ZQ300 Plus Series and ZQ511/ZQ521 spec sheets; speeds are maximums. Zebra's ZQ320 Plus user guide lists die-cut (gap) labels only for the indoor version; our ZQ320 Plus is the outdoor Bluetooth version.
- You print receipts and linerless labels up to 72 mm wide
- Staff carry the printer on a belt for a whole shift and weight matters

- You want an affordable printer with Zebra's charging and carrying accessories
- You print 4-inch or die-cut labels, such as shelf-edge, parcel or pallet labels
- Printers get dropped often or work in the cold, as in delivery, warehouse and field service work
- Printers must join your Wi-Fi network as well as pair over Bluetooth
- You print long shifts and want a larger or extended battery
What both printers share
Both run Zebra's Link-OS, understand CPCL and ZPL, and print at 203 dpi by heat, without ribbon. Both have a removable PowerPrecision+ battery, a sleep mode that wakes when a job arrives, Bluetooth Classic and Low Energy, Made for iPhone certification and Zebra Print Touch NFC pairing. The free Zebra Printer Setup Utility app supports both. Our ZQ320 Plus setup guide and pairing guide show how the app works.

Accessories, setup and EU security rules
Batteries, chargers, cradles and cases are not shared. The ZQ320 Plus uses the ZQ300 Plus Series accessories and charges over USB-C. The ZQ521 uses ZQ500 Series accessories such as the 4-slot power station, the vehicle cradle and the exoskeleton case.
Zebra printers with Wi-Fi placed on the EU market from 1 August 2025 follow the EU radio equipment security rules. On our Wi-Fi ZQ521 this means a different setup process with a Protected Mode password that protects some settings. Zebra cannot recover a lost password; the printer then needs a factory reset. Zebra's EU RED FAQ lists printers with Bluetooth only, and no Wi-Fi or Ethernet, as not affected, so our Bluetooth ZQ320 Plus sets up without it.
